Chandreshwar Temple - on the quaint hills of Chandranath, lays one of the
oldest temples in Goa, the Chandreshwar temple. Sri Chandreshwar Temple is
situated at Paroda in Quepem Taluka on the top of Chadreshwar hill. Located
at an altitude of 359 mts above the sea level, the temple affords a
panoramic view of the green valley below. The temple belonging to the
pre-Christian era is dedicated to Sri Chadreshwar, the chief deity of the
Bhoja kings. The top of the hill also offers a panoramic view of the
surrounding valley. Another major attraction of the place is an ancient
wooden chariot with beautiful carvings on it. Lord Chandranath is believed
to be a model of Lord Shiva. This deity was assessed to be the presiding
deity of the Bhojas. In the ancient times, the state of Goa was under the
rule of Bhojas. The temple is believed to be nearly 1500 years old. The
temple offers panoramic views of the city which leaves the visitors nearly

a major portion of the approach road to the temple is metalled. One can have
a birds' eye view of a long ending green valley of Salcete and Quepem Taluka
from the Chandranath hill. Common faith follows that the temple is about

frequently. During the festival days there is a lot of crowd from outside
Goa as well as the locals of Goa.
