About Goa Kalas Utsav

Goa is, a unique, rich blend of western and eastern culture. This unique
blend apparent every where, from art and architecture to food and music, is
the trademark of Goa. The Catholics or the Hindus or the Muslims, people of
Goa are deeply connected to their religions. Mainly celebrated Hindu
festivals, by the Goans are Ganesh Chathurti, Gudi Padwa, Diwali, Dassra
(Dussehra), Holi, Rakshabandhan, Ramnavmi and Krishnajanmashtami. Kalas
Utsav is celebrated once in two years at Sri Morjaee Temple in Pernem in the
Indian month of Phalgun which falls in the English months of February and
March. It is a festival of seven days. Various religious and cultural
programmes are held at this festival. Kalas Utsav is celebrated on a major
scale every alternate year at Sri Morjaee Temple in Pernem. People from
Maharashtra and Karnataka also attend the seven-day socio-religious event
held here. To participate in the celebrations. People from Maharashtra and
Karnataka throng this place during the Kalas Utsav. Goa is special for its
wonderful and colorful celebration of fairs and festivals. The people of
Goa, though very modern and liberal, are intensely pious and orthodox.
