
The
Bhagvan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary on the eastern border of Goa is spread
over 240 sq. km and is the largest wildlife reserve in Goa. It is more
suitable to view wild animals from the Devil's Canyon View Point. Bird
lovers may also experience their finest time over here as the sanctuary is
home to many beautiful and exotic bird species. Deer, Slender Toris, Jungle
Cats, and Malayan Giant Squirrels. It is best to visit this place between
October and March. The main attraction of this place consists of some exotic
species of birds and animals. The Dudhsagar waterfalls located in the
fringes of the sanctuary presents a breathtaking spectacle with water
gushing down from a height of 200m. The Tambdi Surla temple was built by the
Kadamba kings in the 13th century. The sanctuary is the treasure trove of a
myriad of animal species including Gaur, Sambar, Panther, Leopards, Spotted
Deer, Mouse Deer, Barking. Situated at Molem in Goa and spread over a
sprawling area of 240 sq. kms, this sanctuary is Goa's biggest one.
The
Activities You can drive in or just walk along the mud trails. When you
trek through the dense forest, you will find herds of bison besides other
animals. Observe each and every moment of wildlife. Don't walk through the
large webs which may be spun amidst tree branches. Have a close us at the
huge spiders and colourful butterflies including Chocolate Pansy, Crimson
Rose and Blue Mormon.

is 80 km away from this wildlife sanctuary. Nearest railhead, 6 km from
sanctuary is at Colem railway station. Buses and taxis are available at
regular intervals for Mollem from Panaji and Margao.
