Baga Beach

Baga, 10-km west of Mapusa, is basically an extension of Calangute; even the
locals are unable to decide where ends and the other begin. Baga beach is
connected to Calangute beach by a 3km long road. This road is lined with
hotels and guesthouses that offer the tourists a comfortable stay. Baga is a
fishing beach with brown sand that sees a lot of tourists across the world
trying to get that big catch and others sun-bathing in its golden sun, as a
grove of palms gently sways in the wind. This beach is famous for having
salty bath for many people in Goa over the year, as this river has heavy
waves among all the other beaches. lush paddy fields on the south is
separated by river from the north settlement's, you'll see many people
fishing in the river, women and girls looking for oysters dipping into river
upto neck.

"Casa Portuguesa" is one of the best restaurants for
traditional local cuisine.
Rose Garden Motel - Set on
the beach, serves delicious seafood and Indian vegetable dishes.
Titos - Hottest nightclub in town. Women are allowed in
for a free, but men have to pay.
Medicinal Springs -
The narrow road leading past the Bom Viagem Convent along the cashew-covered
foothills, leads to the springs at Mottant.
Baga Retreat House
- Overlooking the village and the Arabian Sea, at the Baga hilltop
is the Baga Retreat House dedicated to St Francis Xavier.
Climate of Baga Beach
April
and May are warm. The period from June to October brings heavy rain, almost
up to 320 cm. The temperature during summers ranges from 24°C to 32.7°C
and during winters, from 21.3°C to 32.2°C. December and January
might require light woolens.
How To Reach Baga Beach
The
nearest railway station is at Karmali 11 km away from Panaji. Panaji is just
half an hour's drive away from Calangute. The nearest airport is at Dabolim,
which is 29 km away from Panaji. Panaji is just half an hour's drive away
from Baga. There are frequent buses to Panaji and Mapusa from Baga and
Calangute. Most buses from Panaji terminate at Calangute and a few trudge
further on up to Baga. Mapusa is around 8 km away from Baga. Goa Baga beach
is about ten minutes from Mapusa, and thirty minutes from the state capital,
Panaji.
